Rowland Reading Testing Program - Kindergarten, Grade 1 and Grade 2
This past week children in Kindergarten, Grade 1 and Grade 2 were administered the second battery of tests designed by Rowland Reading.
There were two separate tests given last week and your child will be bringing home the results of those tests on Wednesday, May 21st.
Should parents have questions regarding the test results they may see their child's teacher and/or Mr. Woods.
As a reminder any testing program is only one measure of a student's progress. Classroom participation, homework, teacher-made tests, daily and weekly assessments are all part of the academic progress that a child experiences.
Student Information System - SIS
As we approach the end of the year it is important that parents keep abreast of their child's academic progress by checking the student information system regularly and scheduling an appointment with the child's teacher(s) if necessary so there is no heartbreak in June.
Progress Reports will be sent home on Friday May 30, 2014.
End of Year Exams
End of Year exams will be administered to students in Grades 1-8 the week of June 16, 17, 18 and 19th.
The end of year exams will cover material from September to the present as per the direction of the Superintendent of Schools office. The score on the exam will be placed on the report card and will count as 15% of the total grade for the year as calculated by the Student Information System.
A study guide will be available for parents in PRINT this year and will be distributed June 4th. The study guide will outline the important topics in the six units of study that have been taught this year that should be studied. Parents are urged to work with their children using the guides as a tool for success.
