A letter from Dr. McNiff
May 8, 2018
Dear Families,
Our
Catholic schools are proud to offer the finest academic and spiritual education
for the students and families we serve. We understand many parents are
interested in after-school enrichment programs that will give their children an
edge in their development as students and leaders.
As such,
beginning September 2018, your school will offer an enhanced after-school
enrichment program for grades K-8. The program’s structure allows students time
to play, complete homework, and learn in community with their peers. In
addition to the current after-school resources and programs available, the after-school
enrichment program provides students with an opportunity to engage in new activities.
While activities may vary from school-to-school, the types of opportunities
include:
•
Academic Clubs: general tutoring, reading or
math-specific tutoring, homework club, foreign language, journalism
•
Performing Arts Clubs: theater/drama, dance, piano, choir
•
Sports & Games: basketball, baseball, volleyball,
golf, taekwondo, chess
•
Other Activities: coding, robotics, arts and crafts,
cooking, sewing, leadership /government
o
Quiet
time for students to do their homework
o
Unstructured
play time; and outdoor play time (weather permitting)
o
Snacks/lunch
The
after-school program will run Monday through Friday, except on days when
schools are closed. Parents who are interested in learning more about our after-school enrichment program or
enrolling their child in the program more information is located at www.catholicschoolsny.org/after-school. Thank you for your support in
helping us provide even more ambitious and enriching activities for the
students and families we proudly serve.
Sincerely,
Timothy
J. McNiff, ED.d.
