Masks will still be in place at OLQM
The recent announcement that masks are not required in schools does not apply
to children in PreK and Kindergarten programs.
Please see letter at bottom of this blog.
To protect the health of all children of the school we will not be lifting the mask mandate
as all children must pass the second floor of the school on their way to the school lunchroom -- where 5 PreK Classes along with Kindergarten are located. Should you have any questions please see Mr. Woods at the Church door wither in the morning or at dismissal.

Mask Mandate Letter
March 4, 2022
Dear PKFA and 3KF Families,
As you may know, Mayor Eric Adams announced today that:
“Masks will continue to be required for … programs contracted by the New York City
Department of Education with 3 and 4-year-old children as well as 3K and 4K classrooms in
district schools.”
By contract, your child’s school is legally obligated to continue to enforce the indoor mask
mandate as stated above. We have confirmed with the New York City Department of Education
(NYC DOE) that within the PKFA and 3KFA classrooms, those children who have reached their
5th birthday must also wear masks since they “share space with children under the age of 5”.
Please know that while we provide the 3KFA and PKFA programs as a service to the greater
community, we consider you and your child important members of the Catholic school
community where you have placed your child.
The decision regarding mask wearing was made
without Archdiocesan input or support.
While we have shared those concerns with the NYC DOE on your behalf, as
taxpayers and constituents, you may consider expressing them directly by calling 311.
Although
this is a universal number, it is the direct contact number for all departments at City Hall,
including the Office of the Mayor and the DOE.
As we all look forward to a time when restrictions and mitigations are no longer needed or
imposed, our principals and staff will continue to provide a high-quality early learning
experience for your child.
Thank you for supporting them as they, too, navigate the challenges
related to COVID-19.
Sincerely,
Mr. Michael J. Deegan
Superintendent of Schools
Archdiocese of New York
