School Kitchen

This past Thursday the Department of Buildings along with project supervisor from the Archdiocese of New York were here for the second inspection regarding the analysis of the blueprints etc.
There are two more inspections that must be completed before the gas is turned back on:
1. The FDNY must come and inspect the gas lines with the contractor.
2. The NYC Department of Health along with the NYC Department of Buildings must then approve the work.
After both those inspections Con Edison will be notified to turn the gas back on in the school kitchen.
Mr. Woods was told that in approximately 3 weeks time all things should be up and running.

A number of parents have still expressed their  upset to the kitchen staff  over the time line of the construction.
One only has to look at the catastrophe that occurred in Massachusetts this week where homes were destroyed because of the improper installation of gas lines and realize that all things must be checked carefully by all involved parties.

Week of September 3, 2018

I hope that everyone has had an enjoyable summer and
everyone is ready for school to start this week.
The summer has been busy here at OLQM.
The repairs to the kitchen have been completed with the new venting system and will undergo inspection this coming Wednesday.
All exit signs were also replaced this summer and the security cameras were updated also during July.
We are welcoming to the teaching staff Ms. Francis Sanchez who as many know was the classroom aid in Mrs. Serbones class for the past three years.
We also are welcoming Mr. Montas who will be teaching grades 3-8 science this year.
Hopefully you have had time to preview the yearly calendar on the school website as decribed on this blog a few weeks ago and have viewed the blog for your child's teacher concerning supplies.
This week for your child will be an adjustment week and I ask that you make sure they are in bed early today and the rest of the week so that thei bodies will adjust to waking up early.
Please remember to read this blog each week to keep up to date with things that will be undertaken this year and changes that inevitably occur.
Looking for to seeing you this week.
