Week of March 1, 2021 Announcements

 


Registration for September 2021 has begun  
  For information please call Ms. McGarry at 212-567-3190.

Students in the 3K classrooms of  Ms. Sanchez and Mr. Taraza's rooms will need to register for PreK For All (4 year old program).  Priority is given for those students who are registered at OLQM. Please speak to Ms. McGarry if you have questions. Parents may also ask Mr. Woods questions during drop off in the morning or at pickup in the afternoon.

Zoom Virtual Tours 

Touring Tuesdays - if needed other days can be arranged

In order to assist parents who may wish to tour the school for registration for the 2021-2022 school year.

Zoom Virtual Tours will be arranged.

Parents are requested to call the school office at 212-567-3190 and either speak to Alba or Ms. McGarry regarding a Zoom Tour.

You will need to have an email address so that the Zoom information may be sent to you.

Parents will be able to visit the classroom(s) they are interested in for 5 minutes and be taken by an I-pad or Chrome book to other areas of the school. Student ambassadors from the 7th and 8th grade along with an office staff member will be assisting parents.

Parents of Students enrolled at OLQM
 in grades 2, 3, 4 and 8
In the coming weeks dates will be announced for the sacraments:
Students in 3rd and 4 will receive classes from Ms. Alma during class time for First Holy Communion.
Students in 2nd grade will receive classes for the Sacrament of Reconciliation during class time from 
Ms. Alma.
The Sacrament of Reconciliation and First Holy Communion will be administered by Fr. Cruz during school time.
Guests will be limited to 4 adults, who are wearing masks and they will be required to sit behind the school children.
There will be NO group pictures permitted in the Church.
Students in 8th grade will receive classes from Mr. Placido on his return for the Sacrament of Confirmation.

Graduation and Moving Up Ceremonies
These ceremonies will be occurring in June.
Mrs. Fundora, Mrs. Rodriguez and Ms. Ocasio's will be conducing their ceremonies in the Church.
Again, these ceremonies will have a limit of 4 adults.
Again, NO GROUP Pictures.
8th grade parents - There will be no taking of graduation pictures in school. If parents are interested in setting up an appointment with the school photographer at their studio please call Alba for the information.

Teachers will be attending via Zoom Grade Level Meetings this week. The teacher will be out of the room for approximately one hour and will return back into the room and Zoom when the meeting is completed.

To address COVID-19 guidelines students will have ashes sprinkled on their heads. There will be no placing of ashes on students foreheads

Catapult Social Emotional Classes

Feast of St. Scholastica - February 10th  


Dear Parents of Students in Grades K-8

Beginning Tuesday February 9, 2021 students will be participating in Social Emotional Learning lessons provided by Catapult.

Due to the COVID-19 these classes have been deemed essential. They will be conducted in the classroom for both the in-person and remote students in grades K-8.

They will be conducted every other Tuesday for 45 minutes.

Please read the permission slip below and feel free to reach out to Mr. Woods at olqm1@aol.com if you have questions.

Dear Parents/ Guardian,

Your child will be participating in classroom guidance lessons provided by a Catapult Learning school counselor. The goal of classroom guidance is to deliver information to large groups of students, that will help them learn about themselves, interact in a positive manner with peers, and develop skills to succeed in their academic environment.  

Topics can include areas such as mindfulness, responsibility, self-control, coping skills, and resolving conflicts.

If you do not wish for your child to participate in these lessons, please sign below and return to school by  Thursday February 4, 2021.

Upcoming Assignments

Teachers will be assigning projects, presentations etc. for            Black History Month.

Parents are requested to keep abreast of their child's work be emailing their child's teacher through Google Classroom.  Many a parent did not know that children were not handing in assignments through Google Classroom which is the online portal for student work.


All teachers this week will be participating in training for the new world of teaching that COVID-19 has presented.

Reminder that Chocolate Bars are  available in the school office to assist parents with their fund-raising.  Please speak to Mr. Guzman regarding the fund raising requirements on 
Smart Tuition. 
Parents in the PreK For All Program are invited to assist the school with this fund raising program but are not required.
Candy Bars may only be picked up during the morning drop off (7:45 AM - 8:00 AM)
