Ash Wednesday 
March 1, 2017

Ashes will only be distributed during Masses scheduled for the day:
6:30 AM - Spanish

We will celebrate Mardi Gras - 
Tuesday February 28th 
 by having a dress up day wherein students may dress up like Hippie or as one of the characters from the SuperKids Reading program.
There will be a best costume contest at
All PreK and Kindergarten Classes - 1:30 PM 
Grades 1-8 ---2:15 PM
There will be ONE winner chosen from each of the classes.


The annual celebration in honor of Dr. Seuss will be Thursday March 2, 2017.
Students may dress up like one of the characters from their favorite Dr. Seuss' book.

Tuition Suspension Day March 4, 2017 
The Catholic School Regional office has requested that tuition be brought up to date by March 4, 2017. Students will not be permitted to attend class unless prior Payment Plans have been followed by parents.  Notifications of outstanding tuition will be sent home.


Progress Reports, MAP (Measures of Academic Progress) and i-Ready parent reports will be sent home on Friday March 3rd.
This will show your child's progress and should parents have questions they should make an appointment to see the child's teacher. Parents may also see Mr. Woods on Sunday from 2:00 PM - 6:00 on March 5th.

Alba can help parents in the office who are experiencing difficulty in understanding the process.
Parents are reminded that if there are outstanding tuition balances on their accounts that the re-registration will be placed on hold and parents will be required to meet with the Business Manager of the Region before their re-registration is accepted for September.

Week of February 209, 2017 Announcements

Re-Registration due on TADS 
A reminder from the Regional Office - re-registration is due on TADS as explained in the e-mail that was sent to you.
The re-registration fee is $125.00 per student until  February 28th. After that date the re-registration fee rises to $150.00 as explained in the letter from the Manhattan Catholic School Regional office.

MAP (Measures of Academic Performance) Results 
 The recently administered MAP test results will be sent home with your child in the next week or two. On the report there will a place for an action plan to assist your child in meeting the expectations outlined by the test results.
Children will be meeting with teachers and then the report will be sent home for parent review and signature.
 
i-Ready performance folders have been set up by all teachers in grades K-8 for students and parents to monitor students progress using the i-Ready program.
i-Ready along with IXL and Achieve 3000 should be used consistently every day especially now in the month before the 
NYS ELA tests for students in grades 3-8.
These on-line tools have been shown to increase student success on the          NYS tests and 20 minutes a day in ELA and Math should be monitored by parents at home.
Should students have "misplaced" their logins and passwords parents may see the classroom teacher or Mr. Guzman in the office.
 
School will be in session on Friday June 2, 2017 to     make up for the day lost when school was              closed for snow.

Tuition Rates 2017-2018
The tuition rates were set  by the Manhattan Catholic School Regional Office this last Wednesday. The tuition rates are as follows:
One child - $450.00 per month 
Two Children - $900.00 per month
                  Grants are available for families with                     2 or more children.
Three Children - $1,350.00 per month
Grants are available for families with 2 or more children.

General Fees - $225.00 - due in November
Internet Access fees - $100.00 due in February 
Fund Raising - $360.00 in candy bars  or $175.00 paid directly with no candy sales required.
All Tuition etc. is to be paid through Smart Tuition.

After School Program 
3:15- 5:00 PM Program - 145.00 per month (one child)
3:15-7:00 PM -  $250.00 per month 
3:15 PM - 7:00 PM (family plan) - $325.00 per month

PreK Program 
Tuition - $500.00 per month 
Fees etc. same as above.

Week of February 6, 2017 Announcements


Educate/Cornerstone
The Educate grade book has been turned off until the end of this week for programming. Parents who were stunned that a grade book was available for parent review of their child's grades should see Mr. Guzman for a login and password.

Re-Registration 2017-2018
By now everyone should have received an e-mail from the regional office and TADS regarding re-registration for the 2017-2018 school year.  If you did not please see Alba.


An on-line interim assessment will be administered to students in grades K-8 this week.
Testing will begin on Tuesday February 7th. There is a one week window for the testing and parents will receive the results in approximately 2 weeks.

PreK For All Class Evaluation
The three PreK For All Classrooms will be evaluated on Wednesday February 8th using the above rubrics.
The results of the evaluation will be available in 6 weeks.


I-Ready
Students in grades K-8 will begin instruction using the           i-Ready program and Logins and Passwords will be sent home in the next week (grades 3, 4 and 5 already have logins and passwords).
 This is another on-line program that can be done at home to increase Mathematics and ELA (English Language Arts)skills.
It can be done on a computer, on an i-pad or an i-phone.
 Like Achieve 3000 and IXL, i-Ready works at the child's level slowly increasing skill development. Parents are urged to have their child do 20 minutes a day of online work with one of these programs daily that includes weekends! Students who are experiencing academic difficulty should be working regularly with these programs to raise grades that may have been poor on the last report card.
