Announcements Week of February 15, 2016

Apply Now and Smart Tuition

Many people have applied for enrollment for their children already using the new system. Some notes:

1. If your child is in PreK -1 (Mrs. Fundora's class) you already have a Smart Tuition account - please pay the re-registration fee through Smart Tuition if you plan to enroll your child in PreK-2 (Ms. Rodriguez's class). You must still use the Apply Now application method. Again if you are unsure please see Alba or Brianna in the office.

2. If your child is in PreK-2 (Ms. Rodriguez's class) and you plan to apply to Kindergarten. You already have a Smart Tuition account and should use the Apply Now application for Kindergarten. You need to pay the registration fee to Smart Tuition.

3. If your child is in PreK-3 (Ms. Sanchez), PreK-4 (Ms. McGarry), or PreK-5 (Mrs. Reyes)> you must use the Apply Now application for Kindergarten. You must set-up a Smart Tuition account and pay registration fee through Smart Tuition. Alan will assist all parents in setting up their accounts if there is a problem.

4. Financial Aid information will be available to parents by March 10th if you have already applied. If you have not please do so as soon as possible.

5. Parents who need assistance should see the office staff regarding how to use the Apply Now/TADS (Financial Aid) website. Alba is able to scan your documents for you and assist you in the process.

6. Brianna and or Alba will be calling each parent to offer assistance and some parents have already been called by the regional office. Please let them know your decision(s) when they call.

7. To access the Apply Now link you may go to the school web site of www.olqmnyc.org

8. Finally, BE PATIENT as we move through this new process. If you have any further concerns please e-mail Mr. Woods and he will forward your concerns if need to be the regional office for clarification.

9. Tuition for September 2016 will be due June 15th for all students entering PreK-1, PreK-2 and Kindergarten so Mr. Woods may make decisions on staffing for September and also decide whether or not a second Kindergarten class will be opened.

Nemo has arrived
Many parents may have seen the completed salt water tank that Mr. Marcial set up on the first floor of the school. This newest ecosystem enables the students of OLQM to observe a marine ecosystem and study the impact we are having on our oceans. If you have not seen the tank in operation stop by with your child and watch their reaction.
OLQM is grateful to a number of donors who enabled this project to take place.

Re-Registration for students entering Grades 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 , 6, 7 and 8

Re-Registration forms are available from Mrs. Resto. The Re-Registration fee must be paid to Smart Tuition. The new tuition rates are listed on the Re-Registration paper and were also posted on this blog last week.
